Big Ben Clock Lantern (Flameless)

Big Ben Clock Lantern (Flameless)-JMRush
Approximate Lantern Dimensions: W 2.5” x D 2.5” X H 10.25”

This design is compatible with both 8X12 and 12X12 mats and when vellum paper is used, an opaque lantern effect is created.

  1. Cut design pieces. (I used double sided card stock and vellum paper) I used a H 6.5” X 1.5” color changing flameless candle. This file should accommodate up to a H 9” X 2.5” candle.
  2. Flip the tower bases over (pretty side down). Glue the vellum top window pieces ( small wide rectangular shapes) to the coordinating shape on the tower bases. Note: Be careful not to use too much glue (I did during this tutorial) or your vellum pieces will want to wrinkle. I used a book to weight the layers momentarily until the vellum was flat and secure.
  3. Glue the vellum second row window pieces ( small narrow rectangle shapes) to the coordinating shape on the tower bases.
  4. Glue the vellum third row clock pieces ( square shapes) to the coordinating shape on the tower bases.
  5. Glue the vellum tower pieces ( Largest rectangle shapes) to the coordinating shape on the tower bases.
  6. Fold the score lines on the right of the first tower base. The inner most score lines fold up. (There will be 4 sections in this group which outline the shape of the tower). The second line of scoring folds down (two sets) and the third line (two sets) folds up again. This creates an upper and lower triangular shaped inset. Repeat for the other tower base.
  7. Another picture of the fold lines.
  8. Repeat above step 6 to create the inset for the score lines located in the center of each tower.
  9. Picture of the center inset lines viewed from the outside of the tower.

  12. Flip the combined tower bases over.
  13. Apply glue to the first vertical score line edge of the combined tower pieces. Merge the two tower shapes together lining up the bottom and along the aligning the tower shape along the score lines.
  14. This is what it should look like.
  15. You can gently apply pressure like this until the two towers are secured together.
  16. Image of the top of the joined towers.
  17. Repeat step 13 to join the other two ends creating an open ended box shape.
  18. You can gently apply pressure like this until the two towers are secured together.
  19. Apply glue to the top tab and secure to the tower top to the right. Repeat until the tower top is closed.
  20. Picture of the tabs being secured.

  22. Fold the score lines of the lantern base. Apply glue to the two top tabs and secure them to the rectangular shape just above.
  23. Apply glue to the two bottom tabs and secure them to the rectangular shape just below.
  24. Place a flameless candle in the center of the base.
  25. Place the tower inside of the lantern base:)
