Skull Hanging Tea Light Lantern



Skull Hanging Tea Light Lantern-(Flameless) JMRush

This Flameless Hanging Tea Light Lantern features cut outs and when vellum paper is used, a layered transparent frosted glass effect is created. This lantern has a secure bottom that allows it to be hung and still allows access to the tea light on/off switch.

This Flameless lantern features a Spooky Haunted House design which is wrapped around each of the four sides.            This tutorial is used for multiple designs. Your file may contain different design pieces.

1.Cut design pieces. ( I used double sided card stock and vellum paper)
2. Flip the Lantern base over. Fold all score lines. 
3. Line up the two lantern window pieces. Apply glue to the long side tab of the lantern (on the backside) and secure to the other lantern window base piece (on top).
4. Additional image of lantern base pieces glued together.
5. Glue the vellum paper to the window panels; centering around each of the cut out sections.
6. Apply glue to the other long side tab of the lantern window base and secure to the inside of the other lantern window base piece; creating a box.
7. Apply glue to one top tab and secure the top tab to the inside of the next angled triangle.
8. Repeat for the rest of the top tabs until fully enclosed. Apply glue to the inside of one of the circular hanger pieces. Align with the other circular hanger piece and secure.

 9. Apply glue to the top two tabs of the Lantern square base and secure to the inside of the sides. 
10. Repeat for the two bottom tabs creating a shallow box.
11. Apply a dab of glue to the inside of the lantern tea light base just under the slot. (This will help to secure the tab when it passes through.)
12.  Tuck the end tab into the slot creating a circular tube shape.
13. Secure until dry.
14. Place the square piece over the tube shape you just created.
15. Apply glue to the outside of the tabs on the square side and secure downward to the square piece.
16. Place the narrow circular ring piece over the tube shape you just created. Flip this piece over so the circular side is up. Apply glue to the outside of the tabs on the circular side and secure downward to the circular piece. Apply glue to the tops of the ring and tabs and secure the thicker circular ring to the top.

17. Place a flameless tea light candle inside the lantern square base; centering it. Apply glue to the bottom of the square side of the combined 
lantern tea light base. Place inside the lantern square base and secure.
18. Using pieces of foam adhesive squares, attach the skulls to the coordinating shapes on the outside of the lantern base; centering them. (If using the spider lantern design: Curve the spider legs and I used a black marker to color the foam adhesive squares to hide them. I also attached an adhesive jewel on the spider's backside for a bit of sparkle:)
19.  Apply glue to the bottom outside edges of this piece and place inside the tea light base box. Secure until dry. I finished this lantern with a ribbon:)

Skeleton Hug Treat Box

Approximate box size: W 3.25” x D 2.25 x H .75” 
(W 3.25 X H 4.5” including character)

This treat box features character arms that open to a small treat box. This design is perfect for Halloween parties or for your special trick or treaters. This design is compatible with both 8X12 and 12X12 mats.

1.Cut design pieces. (I used double sided card stock for the box base).
2. Glue the skeleton to the coordinating shape on the box base. Fold the box base along score lines.
3. Apply glue to the two top tabs and secure them to the top (head) panel.
4. Apply glue to the bottom two tabs and secure them to the bottom panel creating a box.
5. Apply glue to the bottom tab of the center narrow strip section. Secure the center narrow strip tab to the backside of the inside of the box.
6. Glue the hands to the coordinating shapes on the box base hands. The hands tuck into the slots of the center strip:)
7. Finish with a ribbon:)

Skull Tea Light Banner (Flameless)

Skull Tea Light Banner (Flameless)-JMRush

Approximate size of each box: W 1. 5/8” X  H 1. 5/8” X D 1. 5/8”

This cute little skull box is the perfect size to hold one battery operated flameless tea light candle. This file and can be used independently or can be duplicated and strung together to create a banner for Halloween parties. This design is compatible with 8x12 or 12X12 mats.

1.Cut design pieces. ( I used double sided card stock and vellum paper)
2. Flip the cube base over ( pretty side down). Apply glue to the inside edges of the open square. Secure the small vellum square over the open square; centering it.
3. Insert a ribbon for hanging your cube.
4. Fold the score lines of the cube. Use pieces of foam adhesive squares to attach the skull to the skull base.
5. Apply glue to the top two tabs and secure to the square panel just above the tabs that has the hanging ribbon in it.
6. Apply glue to the next two tabs on the cube base and secure the lower panel to them.
7. Insert a Flameless battery operated tea light. (I used a color changing tea light)
8. Close the lid - Glue the combined skull piece to square that has the vellum piece. Do NOT glue the lid. The lid must open to turn the tea lights on and off:)
9. Tie the ribbon. The skull boxes can be duplicated and strung together to make a banner.

1.Cut design pieces. ( I used double sided card stock and vellum paper)
2. Flip the two lantern pieces over ( pretty side down) Fold the score lines of the lantern body. Center the two lantern body pieces. Apply glue to the backside of the right side tab on the left lantern body piece. Attach to the other lantern piece making sure that the bottoms align (joining the two body pieces).
3. Glue the rectangular vellum pieces to the open areas of the lantern body- centering each rectangle with the open window area of the lantern body.
4. Glue the two triangular vellum pieces to the coordinating shapes on the lantern body.
5. Apply glue to the side long tab on the very right side. Secure the long side tab to the other side creating a box.
6. Apply glue to the top tab and secure it to the triangular panel to it’s left side.
7. Repeat for all of the tabs until the top is complete.
8. Glue the small bottle top shaped vellum to the backside of one of the two bottle top designs; centering it with the coordinating shape.
9. Glue the other matching bottle top shape sandwiching the vellum in-between.
10. The combined bottle top slides into the two slots on the top of the lantern body.
11. Fold the score lines on the lantern square base. Apply glue to the top two tabs of the Lantern square base and secure to the inside of the sides.
12. Repeat for the bottom two tabs creating a shallow box.
13.-14. Place a flameless candle inside and the lantern body in it’s base. I used a color changing candle. I finished with a ribbon on top and decorated the print and cut label with enamel dots:)

Skull Lantern (Flameless)

This Flameless lantern features cut out Skull and Spider Web designs on each of the four sides. A layered transparent frosted effect is created when vellum paper is used. This design is compatible with both 8X12 and 12X12 mats.

1.Cut design pieces. ( I used double sided card stock and vellum paper)
2. Flip the two lantern pieces over ( pretty side down) Fold the score lines of the lantern body. Center the two lantern body pieces. Apply glue to the backside of the right side tab on the left lantern body piece. Attach to the other lantern piece making sure that the bottoms align (joining the two body pieces).
3. Glue the rectangular vellum pieces to the open areas of the lantern body- centering each rectangle with the open window area of the lantern body.
4.-5. Glue the circular hangers together. ( Make sure the stems of this piece remain separate)
6. Glue one of the stems to the inside of the top of the third from the left window panel. (The other stem will be glued inside the lantern later)
7. Apply glue to the side long tab on the very right side. Secure the long side tab to the other side creating a box.
8. Apply glue to the top tab with the circular hanger and secure it to the triangular panel to it’s left side.
9. -10. Repeat for all of the tabs. Apply glue to the other side of the circular hanger piece and secure to the opposite side inside the lantern.
Continue applying glue to the top tabs until the top is complete.
11. -12. Using a ruler, line the edge of the ruler along the score line and fold upward on each side of the webbed mat.
13. Pinch the corners and fold at the angled score line on the web window. The last three steps are to create a 3D frame-like web window.
14. Apply glue to the backside of the web window just along the very inside edges.
15. Center and secure to the matching inside rectangle shape of the lantern body. Using pieces of square foam adhesive, center and secure the skull shapes on the coordinating skull shape on the lantern body. Repeat for every side.


16. Fold the score lines on the lantern square base. Apply glue to the top two tabs of the Lantern square base and secure to the inside of the sides.
17. Repeat for the bottom two tabs creating a shallow box.
22. Place a flameless candle inside and the lantern body in it’s base. I finished with a ribbon on top:)

Zombie Treat Box

  1. Cut design pieces. ( I used double sided card stock)
  2. Flip the box base over like shown (pretty side down). Fold the box base score line. Apply glue to the backside of the tab on the bottom right. Attach to the upper panel to the right.
  3. Apply glue to the backside of the tab on the bottom left. Attach to the panel to the left.
  4. Apply glue to the long vertical tab on the left and to the bottom horizontal tab. Attach to the panel to the right. Your box will be complete.
  5. Tuck the tab into the slot in the back. 
  6. Attach the zombie head to the solid zombie head base using pieces of foam adhesive squares. (I used enamel dots to accentuate the eyes in between these two layers. You can place the zombie head on top the head base temporarily and use a marker to place a guide mark through the eye holes to find placement:) Glue the smaller zombie face to the larger one-centering it.
  7. Attach the combined zombie face to the combined zombie head using foam adhesive squares.
  8. Glue the small eyes to the coordinating shapes on the combined zombie head. Attach the combined zombie head to the front of the treat box using foam adhesive squares and finish with a ribbon bow tie.

Mummy Treat Box

  1. Cut design pieces. ( I used double sided card stock)
  2. Flip the box base over like shown (pretty side down). Fold the box base score line. Apply glue to the backside of the tab on the bottom right. Attach to the upper panel to the right.
  3. Apply glue to the backside of the tab on the bottom left. Attach to the panel to the left.
  4. Apply glue to the long vertical tab on the left and to the bottom horizontal tab. Attach to the panel to the right. Your box will be complete.
  5. Tuck the tab into the slot in the back. Attach the mummy face wrap to the mummy skull using pieces of foam adhesive squares.
  6. Attach the combined mummy skull to the skull solid base using foam adhesive squares.
  7. Attach the eyes to the coordinating shapes on the combined skull using pieces of foam adhesive squares.
  8. Attach the combined mummy skull to the front of the treat box using foam adhesive squares and finish with a ribbon bow tie.
